Ariel & Daniel's Brooklyn Wedding

7/30/2015

My first (semi-) wedding planning project ever, and I'm so lucky that it was Ariel's wedding. She definitely deserves the Most Chilled Bride Award!

Knowing that the guests would be both Chinese and English-speaking, I made everything in both languages, including the wedding invitation and the reception menu.

{Wedding invitations (both English and Chinese version)}

I also built the wedding website using the free resources that Google provides. The only thing that cost anything was the domain name, which was on sale for $0.99/year.

Venue: MyMoon Bar & Restaurant
Gown: The Bridal Garden
Hair & Makeup: ai love hair
Flower: FiftyFlowers.com
Planning: QtπNYC

Ariel bought her dress from The Bridal Garden, who sells designer bridal gowns that were donated to them. All profits go to a chartered school in Brooklyn. Ai did an amazing job on Ariel's makeup and hair as well as both mothers'.

{Isn't she the most gorgeous?}

MyMoon is a beautiful venue for small/medium-scale urban weddings. It used to be a boiler room, so it's got a high ceiling and brick walls that give it a rustic and chic feel. The food is great, and the staff is very friendly.

Ariel and I brainstormed on Pinterest and came up with many of the ideas together. It was a very fun and creative process!

{Program fans: perfect for a summer wedding}

Each table number has a love quote from the Bible (Love is patient, love is kind, etc.). The wedding favor is chopsticks that are tied with red strings (a lucky sign for Chinese) along with a tag that says "To have & to hold, To love & to pray."

Oh and I also choreographed the grand entry of the wedding party at the reception and coached Ariel and Daniel their first dance.

I tried to look for photo booth prop printables online but had very little success. It was actually easier to make them myself - more fun that way too since I got to incorporate the specific wording that Ariel and Daniel wanted. E.g., quotes from the Bible, "I love Ariel," "I love Daniel," etc.

{Photo booth fun!}

{Some Brooklyn hipsterness}

Hope this will be my first wedding planning project of many more!

  1. Wow, this is so lovely post. The couple is looking fabulous. Their destination wedding seems fantastic. Well, last year I also had the destination wedding in Florida but threw the local reception party in the reception halls in Atlanta as most of my guests couldn’t afford travelling to Florida with us.

    1. It wasn't really a destination wedding haha - the couple lives in Manhattan. Sounds like you had an amazing wedding as well!
