Pipe Lab: Over-the-Wall Shelf

1/20/2016

There's an awkward half wall between my living room and kitchen. I tried putting screws in - nope, it's made of metal.

An over-the-wall shelf was thus born. It's now the home of my TV-wanna-be monitor and Apple TV.

  1. Figure out the width and height you want the shelf to be. Buy black pipes and fittings (I used 1/2" pipes). See picture: E=elbow, C=cap, T=tee, and rest is different lengths of nipples.
  2. (I think you're supposed to spray paint the pipe here, but I was too lazy to.)
  3. Cut the 2" framing wood to the size you need. Sand and stain.
  4. Assemble!
